Supreme Court has refused to accept a plea to save the forest land at Arey colony in Mumbai, saying Metro construction should be given priority. Again the SC has refused to stay the construction of Vista project in New Delhi which will seriously harm the environment at the cost of Rs 20,000crores. Again, the SC is not ready to restrain Modi government from selling coal mines to foreign and native corporate which will lead to destruction of tens of thousands of hectares of forest land in Jharkhand and Chhattisgarh. What a commitment to environmental protection from the highest court in our country when ecological catastrophe is threatening even the survival of human species on earth!
