Chutka Anti-Nuclear Power Plant Struggle Committee organized a meeting on 2nd June 2019 in Chutka village, Mandla. Mr. Rajkumar Sinha from Jabalpur and Com. Vijay from Bhopal also joined the meeting.
The post-election situation was discussed in detail in the meeting. Everyone agreed that the new central government will move forward with more nuclear power projects throughout India. The Chutka nuclear power project that has been stalled due to people’s struggle will be forcefully taken up again by both the central and state governments. Everyone accepted that the Struggle Committee must speed up its resistance preparation. During the meeting, members of the Committee after assessing and reviewing their organisational strengths come to following conclusions:
1. A program to reorganize the Struggle Committee will be initiated. In the coming months leaders of the Committee will visit displaced and affected villages. After organizing meetings in the villages village level committees will be organized.
2. Role of the youth was seriously discussed in the meeting. Everyone agreed that without the support of the youth this campaign cannot be taken forward. Special efforts must be put into this task. On this bases it was decided that on a two day youth leadership workshop on upcoming 25-26th August in the village of Kunda which is to be displaced by the project will be organized. Select youth leaders from other affected villages will also be invited to the workshop. Everyone stressed the need for taking concrete action to involve young people in the struggle.
3. It was decided that we should meet MP Govt.’s Energy Minister, Narmada Valley Development Authority (?), ST Welfare Minister, other ministers from various tribal issues related ministries and Chief Minister and give them demand letter demanding that the Chutka NPP Project must be scrapped.
4. It was decided that individuals supporting the Chutka struggle in Bhopal should organize a meeting and also organize a press conference on the matter.
5. It was decided that Committee should raise issues of people displaced and affected by Bargi Dam. Agreement on strengthening campaign on bases of Resettlement for Bargi, Then talks of Chutka slogan.
