‘Arabian sea warming up, intense cyclones will hit western coast’ – The New Indian Express

The Arabian Sea is warming at an alarming rate and will spin more intense cyclones in the coming years, said oceanographer and former director of the National Institute of Oceanography, Dr S Prasannakumar, on Thursday. Prasannakumar, who made a presentation on the rapid warming of the Arabian Sea and modulation of upwelling and winter convection along the eastern boundary at the national workshop on climate change organised by NIO in Kochi on Thursday, told TNIE that the warming of the upper 300 m of the North Arabian Sea has been very steep and the impact will be visible within the next two or three years.
